About Ealing
The London Borough of Ealing is in west London. It is known as The Queen of the Suburbs because it is composed of seven unique residential areas; Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale and Southall.
Previously a semi-rural retreat for the wealthy, today Ealing provides a blend of urban streets and rural parks with residents embracing the self-contained village atmosphere.
Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre provides a blend of high-street shops alongside many local fashion boutiques. There is also a range of cafés and restaurants for shoppers to relax and unwind in as well as a local library and a Nuffield Health.
Ealing has plenty of things to do to keep you, your family and your friends entertained. It is one of the greenest boroughs in London with several wide, open spaces for residents to enjoy. These include Ealing Green, Walpole Park, Pits Hanger Park, Scotch Common and Ealing Common. During the summer months Walpole Park is home to The Ealing Summer Festival which displays an array of world music and comedy.
The Dickens Yard project, which is currently in its final phase, aims to bring new business and leisure premises to the area. It will link together the Town Hall, the Old Fire Station and the Parish Church - three of Ealing's Victorian gems. Also nearing completion is the creation of three new public piazzas where markets, street theatre and jazz events will be held. These new developments will ensure that cultural life in Ealing continues its positive growth.
Famously, Ealing is home to the oldest film studios in the world, Ealing Studios. They were taken over by the BBC in 1955 and since then a range of Ealing's locations have been featured in many prime time shows including Doctor Who and Monty Python's Flying Circus. These studios have also been used for film-making and Ealing's backdrop can be witnessed in Notting Hill, The Importance of Being Earnest and St. Trinian's (2007).
State Primary and Junior Schools in Ealing include Montpelier School, North Ealing Primary School, Brentside Primary Academy, Drayton Green Primary School, and Fielding Primary School.
State Secondary Schools in Ealing include Twyford Church of England High School, Brentside High School and Alec Reed Academy.
Private Schools in Ealing include St. Benedict's, Durston House and St. Augustine's.
Ealing is in a prime location for road users. The North Circular, M4 to Heathrow and the West Country as well as the A40/ M40 to Oxford are all easily accessible. Ealing also offers a regular bus service in and around the borough.
Residents of Ealing benefit from easy access to Central London via the Central, District and Piccadilly Lines. Ealing is served by 4 underground stations all located in Travelcard Zone 3, these are Ealing Broadway, North Ealing, South Ealing and Ealing Common. There is also a fast train to London Paddington just 15 minutes from Ealing Broadway.
The new Crossrail service will also make commuting to London and Canary Warf from Ealing even easier.
